Connecting Facebook and Instagram with a chatbot



Overview

This guide explains how to connect a DialogShift chatbot to a Facebook page and/or an Instagram account. Through this connection, the chatbot can automatically respond to chat requests on these social media platforms.

It is possible to connect:

  • Hotel Facebook pages/Instagram accounts with the hotel chatbot
  • Brand Facebook pages/Instagram accounts with the landing page chatbot

Prerequisites

  • Your Facebook user has admin rights to the Facebook pages and the Instagram account
  • Instagram accounts are connected to the corresponding Facebook page

Steps

  • Open the Hotel Settings >> Integrations page in the app
  • When opening the page for the first time, you need to temporarily disconnect all pages connected to the previous functionality
  • Click on "New Login with Facebook", you will be redirected to a special page on facebook.com
  • Check all Facebook pages/Instagram accounts that you want to connect to DialogShift chatbots
  • Back in DialogShift, you will see all the Facebook pages and Instagram accounts suitable for the connection
  • Select a chatbot from your organization for each one and click "Save"

Confirmation of Connection Every 3 Months

  • Facebook requires that all integrations with your pages be confirmed by the admin every 3 months
  • To do this, simply click on "Renew Facebook Login" on the page of a Facebook user
  • You will be notified by email in advance when a login renewal is required
